Starting Off:
When starting off down the hill, you should sit with the bottom of your board facing downhill and ur board parrelel with the mountain
then stand up and pic up ur toe edge so that you dont start sliding down the mountain
When you feel comfortable, straighten your board(caution:you will gain speed when straightening your board)

Carving:
Carving is baisically turning with a little show
When carving, it is always important to keep the side of the board facing dowbhill up(as seen in the picture above) and not putting to much weight forward so that you dont fall
