Rails
When trying to tackel a rail, it is a good idea to survey the scene for traffic, potential hazards, etc.
Then, try to make sure you have enough room on the approach and coasting area
First, start off by gaining speed up to the rail. Then,(on a stair rail, such as the one in the pic to the left)aim for a spo about two feet from the begining of the rail to land on. Then ollie up and go parrelel with the stairs onto the rail. Slide down to the end and when your board leaves the rail, straighten it back out quikly and coast away. Now, when doin rails that come down to the ground, get some speed and coast up but reamin straightened out. When the whole board is on the rail, turn so ur parrelel accros the mountain and coast accros to the end. Then straighten back out and ride off and coast away.
Jumps
when doing jumps, again, survey the scene and all the area around it for potential hazards.(It is a good idea for a freind to "spot" for you when doing jumps) Find a reasonable size jump(try not to jump off a cliff on your first day)and gain speed. Then, go up to the jump and coast up it(try not to be to shaky or wobbly, balance is key). Once you get to the lip, crouch and ollie off. As your in the air, try to do a trick or just jump, meenwhile keeping an eye on the landing area. When landing, use your knees as shock absorbers and try to center your weight on the board(not too much forward, not too much back, not too much to either side, center it in the middle). Coast away.
